Bobby Beausoleil is an American criminal and former associate of cult leader Charles Manson who was convicted of the 1969 murder of musician Gary Hinman. In July 1969, Beausoleil and other Manson associates held musician Gary Hinman hostage at his home for three days and tortured him over a money dispute. This was the first murder committed by members of the Manson Family, occurring just weeks before the famous Sharon Tate and Leno LaBianca murders
