Brendan Dassey (born 1989) is an American prisoner from Wisconsin whose conviction in the 2005 murder case of photographer Teresa Halbach became internationally known through the Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer. Dassey was convicted at age 17 after giving a controversial confession during police interrogation, which he later recanted.
