In November 1989, Frederick—a former assistant police chief from Noble, Oklahoma—went on a multi-state robbery and murder spree. On November 11, 1989, Frederick brutally clubbed to death, a partially paralyzed Vietnam War veteran who had kindly let Frederick stay with him. Frederick dumped Beck's body in an open field in Spencer, Oklahoma, ransacked his home, and stole his pickup truck. Three days later, on November 14, 1989, Frederick drove his victim's stolen truck to Texline, Texas. There, he bludgeoned and shot to death a 76-year-old disabled veteran during an apparent robbery attempt. He then stole her car, firearms, and belongings. Frederick was arrested in Amarillo, Texas, on November 19, 1989, after police spotted a woman driving Fox's stolen car. During his initial interrogation, Frederick claimed to have multiple personalities, trying to blame the murders on a violent alter-ego named "Jeff". Later in the legal process, he also claimed amnesia regarding the timeline of the crimes. Both strategies failed to convince the courts of his legal incompetence. Frederick was executed on July 302, 2002.
