John Eric Armstrong is an American serial killer who is currently serving multiple life sentences. Armstrong targeted and strangled female sex workers in the Detroit, Michigan area between 1999 and 2000. He admitted to posing his victims' bodies after the killings near railroad tracks or secluded areas so that he could regularly return to engage in necrophilia. Prior to his arrest, Armstrong was a U.S. Navy petty officer stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. Following his capture, he confessed to murdering an additional 12 to 13 women in ports around the world, including Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and parts of the U.S.. While investigators verified his travel timeline matched these locations, these international killings were never formally confirmed or prosecuted.
