Joseph Lee Druce (born Darrin Ernest Smiledge) is an American convicted murderer best known for the 2003 prison slaying of defrocked Roman Catholic priest John Geoghan, a central figure in the Boston clergy sexual abuse scandal. In 1988, Druce (then known as Darrin Smiledge) beat, bound, and strangled a 51-year-old man who had picked him up while hitchhiking. Druce claimed the man made an unwanted sexual advance.
