Kelly Renee Gissendaner was an American woman who was convicted of orchestrating the 1997 murder of her husband. Her case drew widespread national and international attention because she was the first woman executed by the state of Georgia in 70 years, and the first person executed in Georgia since 1976 who did not physically commit the murder herself.
