Richard Keith Shoopman was an American serial killer and defense witness and prison acquaintance of serial killers Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris (known as the "Toolbox Killers") during the 1981 trial of Lawrence Bittaker. Shoopman had met Roy Norris while both were incarcerated at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo in 1977. Shoopman testified on the stand as part of Bittaker’s defense strategy. The defense attempted to prove that Norris was the primary instigator and actual perpetrator of the crimes, and that Bittaker played a lesser role.
