Robert John Bardo (born 1970) is an American murderer and stalker convicted of the 1989 killing of actress Rebecca Schaeffer. Bardo became obsessively fixated on Schaeffer for several years before traveling to Los Angeles and fatally shooting her at her home. The highly publicized case led to major changes in U.S. anti-stalking laws and restrictions on access to DMV records, becoming one of the most infamous celebrity stalking cases in American history.
