John Irwin Friedman, a listed artist who was also a close friend of Charles Manson -- long before as well as after the gruesome Tate-LaBianca murders catapulted all Manson family members and associates into notoriety, whether they were involved in the tragedy or not. Among these was Friedman, whose son John Jr. (aged about 10 at the time) was at the Spahn Ranch (Manson's commune) when the bust came down, apparently with babysitters. Friedman changed his name to Partee some time thereafter and created a variety of imagery throughout his career, up until his death in 2008.

Manson family vintage handwritten letter to Charles Manson from the early 1970s. The letter appears to have been written by John Irwin Friedman aka Partee. This was among letters in the personal collection of Michael Feeney who was friends with Manson early in his incarceration.

8 1/2" x 11" one page handwritten letter penned on the back of a copy of a San Miguel Times full page cartoon strip. Partee has drawn a moon, stars, and sky at the top and where he has signed the close of the letter he has drawn what appears to be three mountains and a elf hat.
Hand signed at the close, Love - Partee, Obi, Windy The Elfs.
