John Kogut who under pressure from law enforcement confessed that he and two co-defendants were responsible for a string of rapes and murders which took place in Long Island, New York. 
Kogut was sentenced to life in prison in May 1986 after being convicted of rape and murder.  Kogut was exonerated on December 21, 2005.
