James Schoenfeld is one of the three men convicted for the infamous 1976 Chowchilla school bus kidnapping, which is often described as the largest mass kidnapping in U.S. history. On July 15, 1976, James Schoenfeld, his brother Richard Schoenfeld, and their friend Frederick Newhall Woods IV hijacked a school bus carrying 26 children and their driver.
