Joseph Fischer was an American serial killer who confessed to murdering up to 40 people across the United States between 1978 and 1979. Fischer had previously served 25 years in a New Jersey prison for a prior murder conviction before being paroled in June 1978. Following his release, he embarked on a cross-country crime spree.
